The Annual Vancouver Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration presented by Amacon continues to be one of the biggest community holiday events in downtown Vancouver. This celebration brings visitors together to view the tree lighting and marks the start of the holiday season. The projected attendance for the 2024 Vancouver Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration is anticipated to be well over 100,000 viewers through an in-person event and a live broadcast.

Standing at 76 feet tall, the Vancouver Christmas tree is Western Canada's tallest Christmas tree. Tourists visit from far and wide to see this incredible monument.

How can I attend the event?The event will be held in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery in downtown Vancouver. The ceremony will start at 6pm and end with the lighting of the tree.

Is the event free?Yes the event is free! There will be hot chocolate and other vendors who sell items for an extra charge.

Who can go to the Tree Lighting?The Tree Lighting is for everyone and is a family-friendly event. People of all ages are welcome.

Who will be at the event?The event will be hosted by Free Lee, CBC Contributor and Personality. There will also be appearances from City Council, live entertainers, dancers, and Santa.

How can I donate?Donations big and small are welcome! For larger donations in excess of $500, please complete the form and we will get back to you shortly on next steps. For smaller donations, we welcome people to donate through the Buy a Bulb program. It costs $5 to buy a virtual bulb and $10 for three bulbs.

What is Buy a Bulb?Buy a Bulb is a donation drive that raises money for several charities including BC Children's Hospital, Vancouver International Children's Festival, and Honour House. When you buy a bulb your name will be added to a list of donors who helped keep the tree lit for the entire holiday season.
